At Sticky Spoon, we have an odd schedule; many 5 am starts and quite a few very late nights at work every week. We are not complaining though, we like our jam life. It just means that when we don't have to set an alarm and rush off before the sun wakes up, we like to make a small celebration of breakfasts at home; toast and coffee seems too plain on those days. Today's leisurely brunch was Buttermilk Quinoa Pancakes with Poppy Seeds, Lemon and our Red Raspberry Jam. Yuuuum. What's your favourite brunch?

After a visit to the Vancouver Farmers Market this weekend, I came home with a few bags of Poplar Grove Arbour's hazelnuts. They were just sitting there on the counter, making me crave whole wheat hazelnut scones. I couldn't resist; hazelnut scones have such a wonderful texture and a sweet, mellow nutty flavour. Half an hour later, a slice of brie and a spoonful of Pear and Vanilla Jam and we had ourselves a fantastic breakfast. Happy Monday to you.

Sunny days always make us want to eat lighter, even in the Winter. Lunch today is a seared filet of arctic char topped with BC Kiwi Jam for a zingy, tropical touch and also paired with a farro, carrot and walnut salad. A few pomegranate seeds, though sadly not local, give the salad a lovely texture. We can't get enough of these sunny days, keep them coming!

Nothing like a relaxing tea time on a rainy afternoon, just a few minutes to clear your mind and take a breath goes a long way. Cocoa nib shortbread cookies help a little too, especially when topped with a touch of Red Raspberry Jam; it just makes your mid day break extra special, we highly recommend it.
